Andrew Warren Elected State Attorney in Hillsborough County

Tampa, FL — After a hard-fought campaign against an entrenched 16-year incumbent, Andrew Warren thanked voters for placing their trust in his vision to reform Hillsborough’s criminal justice system.

“This campaign was all about making Hillsborough a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.” Warren said. “I laid out a clear plan over the past year to improve our system, and voters enthusiastically supported that plan. I’m truly humbled that they’ve placed their trust in me. Now the real work begins.”

Warren ran on a platform of updating a number of policies and practices in the State’s Attorney Office, including targeting violent crime and economic crime, reforming juvenile justice, engaging with the community, and protecting the rights of victims.

Warren shocked political observers who initially wrote off his effort by running a disciplined campaign focused on his vision for the office. While many insiders and pundits thought the race was unwinnable, Warren continued to build support through common sense reforms aimed at improving safety, smarter allocation of resources, and rebuilding trust with the community.

“I thank Mark Ober for his service to our community,” Warren continued. “While we have strong policy differences, we both ran because of our dedication to Hillsborough.  I congratulate him on a well-run campaign.”

Warren spent election night with his family at their Tampa home. He and his wife, Alex have two daughters aged 5 and 3. “I got into this race for them. I’m going to work hard every day to make our community safer for my family and every one in Hillsborough.”
